Kia's new electric vehicle, the EV5, will debut at a starting price of £39,245.

The Kia EV5, the latest addition to Kia's electric vehicle family, is making waves in the automotive industry. This compact SUV, slightly larger than the popular Kia Sportage, offers a blend of style, performance, and convenience that sets it apart.

The EV5 is equipped with a 214bhp electric motor and an 81.4kWh battery pack, the same as the EV3 and EV4, enabling a range of up to 329 miles on a single charge according to the official WLTP combined cycle. This impressive range makes the EV5 a reliable choice for daily commutes and longer journeys.

Charging the EV5 is a breeze, thanks to its 400V technology. On a DC charger, it can charge at a maximum of 150kW, while on an AC charger, it charges at 11kW. The EV5 can charge from 10-to-80% in just 30 minutes and from 10-to-100% in 7 hours and 20 minutes on an 11kW AC charger.

The EV5 also boasts Plug & Charge technology, allowing for automatic activation of charging sessions at Plug & Charge-compatible charge stations. Every EV5 comes standard with Kia CarPay for added parking and charging convenience.

The EV5 is available in three trim levels: 'Air', 'GT-Line', and 'GT-Line S'. The 'Air' grade serves as the starting point for the EV5 line-up, while most buyers are expected to choose the 'GT-Line' upgrade at £42,595. The top-of-the-line 'GT-Line S' variant, priced at £47,095, includes an opening sunroof, ventilated front seats, Harman Kardon sound system, Head-Up Display (HUD), digital key with fingerprint recognition, and the option for a heat pump at an additional £900.

In terms of performance, the EV5 can accelerate from 0-to-62mph in 8.4 seconds and boasts a top speed of 102mph. The 'GT-Line' upgrade features 19-inch alloy wheels with 'GT-Line' styling, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, and a wireless mobile phone charger.

The Kia EV5 is now available in the UK with starting prices at £39,295. With its combination of range, charging speed, performance, and features, the EV5 is set to be a compelling choice for those looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.
