Introducing the New SIGMA Platform from Speedcast, Revolutionizing Connectivity Services with State-of-the-Art Technology
Speedcast, a global communications and IT services provider, has launched an upgraded version of its SIGMA intelligent edge network management solution. This latest release aims to boost remote site visibility and control, broaden hardware diversity, and enhance automation for deployment and updates.
The new SIGMA solution addresses contemporary challenges in visibility, control, compliance, and security for managing distributed edge environments. It is designed to adapt to a diverse range of services, including Starlink, OneWeb, and other emerging constellations, alongside traditional connectivity options.
In a partnership with ZEDEDA, Speedcast will discuss the upgraded architecture's capabilities and how it brings the power of edge intelligence to maritime operations during a session on Future-Proofing Your Fleet at the Digital Ship Forum on Wednesday, June 4 at 12:15 p.m. in the Thon Hotel Arena.
The SIGMA marketplace offers managed containerized or virtual machine deployments of applications for digital operations. Initially, it will include crew experience and internet cafe applications, with future expansions in computer vision, video streaming, enhanced cybersecurity capabilities, and customer-selected VMs.
The enhanced SIGMA platform serves as a critical component in meeting the International Association of Classification Societies' (IACS) latest Unified Requirements, which mandate that new ships incorporate cybersecurity considerations from the outset. Speedcast has also received a patent grant from the US Patent and Trademark Office for technologies developed to enhance the SIGMA platform.
Speedcast's technical and commercial experts will demonstrate the platform at the Speedcast stand B05-33 on Tuesday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. The company will also host a celebration event at the same stand during Nor-Shipping 2025.
The upgraded base operating system and cloud-native orchestration platform are optimized for virtualized deployments. The new platform enables policy-driven configurations and updates throughout the entire lifecycle, providing a fully managed, future-proof solution for remote connectivity.
Speedcast recognizes the increasing demand for integrating LEO service offerings with its SIGMA platform. The enhanced SIGMA platform will be showcased at upcoming industry trade shows, including Nor-Shipping 2025, taking place from June 2-6 in Oslo, Norway.
Infosys, a leading global consulting and technology services company, will co-lead a discussion with Speedcast and software company ZEDEDA on an improved next-generation SIGMA platform at Nor-Shipping 2025. This partnership aims to bring large-scale automation and facilitate seamless rollouts to thousands of edge devices.
The new SIGMA solution is set to revolutionize the way Speedcast delivers an intelligent network solution. It does this through a combination of proprietary algorithms, machine learning, and automated analysis. This upgrade marks a significant step forward in Speedcast's commitment to providing innovative, reliable, and secure communications and IT services.
