Increased gambling revenue by 61% in June for New Hampshire casinos, due to their recent openings
New Hampshire's Charitable Gaming Sector Sees Significant Growth in June 2022
New Hampshire's gambling industry is primarily based on charitable gaming models, with 14 casinos in operation as of June 2022. The state does not have any traditional commercial casinos due to state laws.
In a notable development, the charitable gaming sector reported a 61% year-over-year increase in revenue in June 2021, generating approximately $22.5 million. This figure includes revenue from games of chance and historical horse racing machines.
The New Hampshire Lottery Commission reported on the revenue of the 14 casinos in operation. The casino with the highest revenue in June 2022 was The Nash, which generated $5.8 million. The Brook casino reported a 15% year-over-year increase in revenue, from $4.5 million to $5.1 million.
Historical horse racing accounted for 78.4% of the state's total charitable gaming revenue in June 2022, earning a total of $17.6 million, up 72% from the previous year's figure of $10.8 million. Games of chance generated $4.9 million in revenue, marking a 33% year-over-year increase.
Six of the 14 casinos saw a year-over-year revenue increase, with Revo Casino Lebanon experiencing the most significant rise, seeing a 303% increase from $358,567 to over $1.4 million. The Lucky Moose casino, however, experienced the largest year-over-year revenue decrease, losing 73% of its revenue, from $639,229 to $179,840. Revo Casino Keene also saw a 21% decrease in year-over-year revenue.
The increase in revenue is attributed to the openings of new casinos in the state. The newly opened Casino Salem, which offers table games and Historical Horse Racing Machines, did not report its June 2022 revenue.
As New Hampshire continues to develop its charitable gaming sector, it remains an interesting case study for the gambling industry, demonstrating the potential for growth and development in a regulated and charitable gaming environment.
